It is designed for virtual offices, allowing users to toggle between full VR and limited AR. Although not the best VR headset, the Meta Quest Pro’s impressive features, including upgraded pancake optics, improved cameras, and a more powerful processor, make it a worthwhile upgrade for professionals and enthusiasts. Overview - Build & Design - The Meta Quest Pro is a sleek black headset with a glossy front panel, making it more professional than the white Quest 2. The head strap features a single wraparound band with thickly padded sections on the front and back, while the rear section contains the battery to distribute weight. The headset is comfortable and secure, but it doesn't take into account eye strain or battery life. The comfort aspect is a major reason for its popularity. The headset works well with PCVR, but comfort is dependent on head placement. Something users would like is finger tracking, though it's great for games and mixed reality, just that it's not up to par yet.

Overview - Features - The Meta Quest Pro is an advanced standalone VR headset designed for both enthusiasts and professionals, with a $1,500 price tag. While the display and design have been improved, the eye- and face-tracking tech still has potential. However, to fully utilize these features, users need other users or VR games with eye-based foveation. The Quest Pro is a better headset than the Quest 2, but few consumer-focused software takes advantage of its upgrades meaningfully. The Quest Pro offers face and eye tracking, mixed reality, color pass-through cameras, and smaller controllers, but the resolution is not perfect for multiple displays. Upcoming features like local dimming, eye-tracked foveated rendering, Wifi 6e, and improved passthrough will make the headset even better. However, the biggest issue with the headset is the lack of comfort, and third-party comfort accessories are needed. The Quest Pro is currently the best standalone/PCVR capable headset available, but it remains to be seen if many users will consider it an upgrade.

Overview - Image Quality - The Meta Quest Pro features advanced cameras, providing high-res color video of the environment, surpassing Quest 2's Passthrough mode. While image quality is still grainy, the headset offers superior clarity and sharpness. The controllers are excellent, but the advanced features need better support.

Overview - Worth - The Meta Quest Pro is a solid headset that is expected to get better with time, with its pancake lenses and dual mini QLED displays. It's expensive but a substantial upgrade. The headset's pancake lenses and universal support for local dimming and eye-tracked dynamic foveated rendering are expected to improve over time. However, the modified XR2 Gen I chip may hinder passthrough ability and resolution per eye. The Meta Quest Pro 2 is expected to be a better option in 2024.

Build - Controllers - The new motion controllers feature built-in cameras for 360-degree range of motion and a more authentic interaction with virtual objects. They are similar to Quest 2's controllers, with simple handles, circular panels, and triggers. Meta removed large rings from Quest 2's controllers and replaced them with three cameras. The controllers have rechargeable batteries that can last for up to 8 hours, but no ports for charging; they use a charging cradle instead. The new Pro controllers use a Snapdragon 662 processor and three sensors for inside-out tracking, allowing for full tracking without relying on the headset. The controllers feel weighty and have higher fidelity and powerful haptic feedback motors.

Comparison vs. Quest 2 - The Meta Quest Pro is a lightweight, ergonomic VR headset with a black plastic halo, similar to the original PlayStation VR. It weighs 722 grams and compared to the Quest 2's 503 grams, uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Plus processor, and has 12GB of memory and 256GB storage. Its controllers are comfortable, lighter, and less cumbersome. Its display provides a lower resolution but claims 75 percent more contrast, providing richer and more vibrant colors. Its weight distribution is not as good as the Meta Quest 2. The Pro's visual experience is similar to the Quest 2, but has a wider field of view horizontally. The setup for playing PC6 VR games on the Pro is the same as the Quest 2, with the option to use a Link cable, air link, or virtual desktop for wireless gaming. The Pro has a reported better clarity, field of view and comfort than the Quest 2, and not much distortion in video passthrough. Open periphery VR is great on the Pro. Its front and back pads can be removed for comfort adjustment. In terms of value, the Quest 2 might just be better depending on the price difference and the significance of upgrades. Still, the Meta Quest Pro is considered a general upgrade over the Quest 2 and an interesting tool for productivity and AR.

Comparison vs. Quest 1 - The Meta Quest Pro is similarly good in terms of build quality as the Quest 1, though the Pro wins in terms of visual quality, especially with games that make use of dimming zones. The comfort leaves much to be desired but can be adjusted with the help of online guides. It’s only downside is the lack of software development and the old processor, and there aren’t many users who take advantage of the Pro for work.

Usability - Recommendation - To fully utilize the Meta Quest Pro, it is recommended to play it with PCVR, which offers improved features like wireless capabilities. The Logitech K830 keyboard tracks well on the Quest Pro, as well as Virtual keyboards like Logitech K375s. The Immersed VR app is better than Workrooms for resolution adjustments, but Workrooms is more stable and simplified. Quest Pro has significantly improved work productivity, with pass through for desks, workrooms, and selectively passing through areas.
