The Miele C1 Homecare is a bagged canister vacuum. It has an outstanding performance on bare floors, and it does a great job on both low and high-pile carpet. It’s easy to assemble and to maintain, and it has an overall sturdy feel. It comes with crevice and upholstery tools as well as a soft bristle brush, and you can clip them onboard the vacuum itself for easy storage. It is a powerful canister vacuum designed to clean a variety of surfaces in a convenient manner for the user. Six different cleaning modes are available in addition to multiple accessories.

Design - The Miele Classic C1 Homecare is a canister vacuum built with a purpose. It has six different surface cleaning modes, multiple cleaning tools, and top-notch performance all combined to create a well-rounded unit. This model comes with 2 different head nozzles (the classic SBD 285-3 and the electric SEB 228), but it also features HEPA filtration, just like the top of the line (Titan). Given its head nozzle, this model is suitable for medium pile carpets. It also comes with an additional accessory called the SUB 20 Universal Brush, which is a combination between the SBB Parquet-3 and a standard crevice tool. The result: an attachment which you can use to vacuum furniture, books and even art pieces.

Cleaning - There's a lot to like on the c1 vacuum overall cleaning performance was truly exceptional. The Miele c1 came in with some of the very best cleaning performance. If you have pets, however, the downside is that you will be replacing your bags often but other than that it's a really nice vacuum.

Bags - The Miele Classic C1 uses a bagging system instead of a dust bin. Debris is sucked up and filtered into the bag. The bags open up very easily and they have an air cleaning system in there so it's all filtered so none of that dust or dirt that you're vacuuming up is going get back into the air. This unit's a little bit more bulbous compared to the c2 series and you have premotor filtration and your exhaust or post filters now again you can adjust anywhere from micron filtration charcoal filtration or even HEPA filtration.

Bare Floor - The Miele Classic C1 is outstanding for bare floors. It's able to easily clean all kinds of debris and hair on bare floors. However, some hair can catch on the bristles, and small debris can get stuck in crevices within the brush head. It's able to pick up pretty much everything, although hair can get caught on the vacuum head's bristles. Small debris can also accumulate in the gaps in the vacuum head, but you can remove them by shaking or tapping the head. The vacuum did not struggle with any of the debris on the hardwood floor and was able to capture each one with a single pass over each specific section.

High-Pile Carpet - The Miele Classic C1 is great for high-pile carpet. It picks up all pet hair and it does a decent job of picking up small debris like baking soda. Its ability to pick up large debris declines as the dirt compartment fills though. However, even though it struggles a bit more to pick up small debris, it still does a consistent and decent job of cleaning these messes. . Both rice and cereal did not stand a chance against the Miele Classic C1, cleaned up to 100%.

Smell - We have a Classic C1 HomeCare PowerLine vacuum. From the very beginning when we bought it We put in a charcoal filter. The pet Miele line seemed a bit overkill for a home with no pet hair, and the sales person suggested the power line with a charcoal filter - he said the motor was the same but the machine would be lighter and charcoal filter would trap smells. We were sold and we love it. Except when you first turn it on it SMELLS. Hygiene is not always the issue. We were changing the bag constantly to try to avoid the odor but it was so wasteful.
