Airflow - The new inline design of the v10 was made so it could generate more airflow and combined with its new motor. It had the highest airflow at 2027 feet per minute, measured at the wand on medium power. It was about 1220 and it was 925 feet per minute on low power. The extra airflow can be felt on carpet with the v10 on high power.

Battery - Battery life test showed 61 minutes on low power, but only Six and a half minutes on high power. It went almost 27 minutes on medium power with the cleaner head attached. The Dyson V10's battery performance is decent. In its most energy-efficient 'Suction 1' mode and without any attachments fitted in place, it can last just over an hour on a single charge.

Usability - There’s an array of attachments to get your head around; a bit overwhelming at first, but worth familiarising yourself with, as they really do impact the results. Having the patience to switch to the right tool for the job really does make all the difference. If you do have a house that has predominantly hard surfaces, we do think the absolute is worth the extra £50 upgrade for the woven soft roller cleaner head, a bonus accessory that comes with the v10 Absolute. You have to hold the trigger button down to operate the v10, but it’s super sensitive, so this isn’t a huge barrier and doesn’t leave you with aching fingers. Also, it converts into a handheld vacuum cleaner effortlessly, negating the need to own both.

V8 - Both the v8 and the v10 had no trouble with large debris on hard floors, however, the Dyson v10 torque head is a significant improvement over the v8's head. The battery life on both the v8 and the v10 are dramatically different, depending on what power mode you're using and which attachments you have attached. The standard cleaner head has been upgraded quite a bit from the v8 to the v10. The new design also has two small adjustable gates on the front, which are crucial for picking up larger debris on hard floors. The v8 standard cleaner head doesn't have these gates.

Accessories - A few accessories make this vacuum super versatile: the soft roller head which does a great job at cleaning hardwood floors is but one example. If you're the owner of a previous Dyson v7 or v8 those accessories for those vacuums are completely compatible with the Dyson v10.

Alternatives - There are a few alternatives to the v10 Absolute: The LG CordZero Kompressor $599 @Costco is well liked because it comes with 2 batteries, a wall mount, and a stand included, and the performance numbers are above average. Meanwhile, another favorite is the Henry Cordless $557, it’s a canister vacuum that has 2 batteries included and is an ace on hard floors and has a full size hose and tools. Yet another one is the V11. You don't need the soft roller / fluffy head that comes with the V10 Absolute if your apartment has mainly carpet. Just try and get the SV15 variant of the V11. It comes with the click-in battery and has a slightly more powerful motor. If it’s only a $50 difference then 100%. Better battery, better suction. For the same extra money situation, there’s also the Dyson V11 Outsize. Has a bigger bin, and a bigger head too. If you can afford to spend a bit more, it’s best you get the v11 outsize. In terms of canisters, if you like your V10, you could keep it for quick pickups and get a high quality corded canister to do the deep cleaning like those from Henry, Miele, and Sebo.

Comparison vs. V11 - Only thing you need to note is that you actually get a full 60 minute run time, sometimes even 70 minutes on Eco mode on the V11, while I got 35-40 run time on my old V10.
