The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 tablets are Android’s pro-level iPads and the best for creative work. The Tab S8 is the smallest model in the lineup, but it still has plenty of power, an 11-inch screen, and Samsung’s S Pen stylus. The Samsung’s Android-Chrome OS-bridging Dex mode is a significant highlight of the tablet. However, the Galaxy Tab S8 costs $699.99, which is pricier than iPads and Windows tablets but with fewer professional apps. The entry-level $699 Tab S8 device, a $199 keyboard, and a mouse cost close to $1,000. Though, you can get by with a $65 Logitech K780 Multi-Device Keyboard, a $15 generic wireless mouse, and a $20 Amazon Fintie thin case, but it’s kludgy. The Tab S8 isn’t as premium as iPads and Windows tablets. Samsung’s Dex mode isn’t ready for full-scale productivity for creative people. Until Android’s tablet experience matches the competition, high-end Android tablets will be at a disadvantage. But if you’re already invested in Android apps or don’t like Apple or Windows, the Galaxy Tab S8 (and other models) delivers more creativity and productivity than any other Android tablet. However, you may try the $599 HP Chromebook X2. It also contains a keyboard and pen, so while it’s slower than the Tab S8, it’s cheaper. Additionally, Microsoft now provides a Surface Go 3 Intel Core i3 tablet ($569) with a Type Cover ($99.99), and it runs Microsoft 365 and Photoshop. Pros & Cons - You may appreciate the Tab S8's fast, smooth performance, S Pen, and Dex mode, which provides a multi-window user interface. It also offers premium-feel design, bright display, excellent battery life, great sound quality, and surprisingly good cameras. It may also serve as a replacement for a laptop. However, it has fewer professional-level creative apps than iPadOS, and Android apps typically do not perform well on tablets. Authentication bugs were also present, which could be a deal-breaker for you. It features limited upgrade options and no in-screen fingerprint sensor. In addition, the Book Cover keyboard feels small and cramped, camera quality degrades at extremes, and it performs poorly when compared to iPads.
Functionality - The Tab S8 is a terrific buy for students, busy individuals, mobile on the move folks, and so on, especially when combined with other Samsung products. It works excellent for the phone, Google messaging, and other devices that use the same pair of earbuds. It can be used specifically for Samsung Notes, video editing with KineMaster, YouTube in 4k, and more. The S pen also works well. The integration for Samsung Notes is fantastic, especially on WiFi, where it updates and informs you when you're on the S8. This is fantastic for students because they do not have to worry about syncing constantly.

Overview - Its 11-inch LCD screen is bright and responsive, but it cannot compete with the performance and stunning mini-LED display on the iPads. However, on the positive side, it's a sleek, powerful, and power-efficient slate that doesn't get in the way of Android 12's best features too much. It is quick, durable, aesthetically pleasing, and easy to hold. The tablet's cameras are good enough to make shooting pictures and making video calls enjoyable, and the S Pen that comes with it is a great, functional addition. With Samsung's DeX mode activated, the Galaxy Tab S8 can replace a laptop better than almost any iPad, but for its affordable starting price of $838 with a keyboard, you can get a Windows laptop that can do even more, such as the Asus Zenbook 13 OLED. But overall, the Galaxy Tab S8 raises the bar for what a premium Android tablet should be, and it's one of the best Android tablets you can buy right now, especially if you're already invested in Samsung's device ecosystem. It functions best as a fast, versatile tool that makes work and play more enjoyable. If you must have the largest and most powerful Android tablet, you will likely want the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The Galaxy Tab S8 sets a new standard for what we should expect from a premium Android tablet.

Screen & Comfort - This is the least expensive member of the Tab S8 family, however it is a great device. The primary disadvantage is the lack of a Samsung AMOLED display and the use of only LTPS. It comes with the S pen, but you may purchase the keyboard if you have the extra funds. The 11-inch screen is a sufficient size and significantly faster than the tab S4. In comparison of the s8 to s8+ or even ultra, the S8 Tab is already a decent device in terms of screen size, since this tab is already huge and heavy enough to use while lying on a couch or bed while watching Netflix.

Screen - Resolution & Brightness - The 600-nit, 2,560-by-1,600-pixel LCD of the Tab S8 is perfect for entertainment. The S8 Tab's display also has a 120Hz refresh rate, whereas the new iPad Air only has a 60Hz screen. The S8's 120 Hz display provides for seamless scrolling and S Pen use. However, if all you want to do is watch videos, less expensive devices like the $149.99 Amazon Fire HD 10 and the $279.99 Lenovo Tab P11 Plus are just as capable.
Android 12 - It comes with the most recent Android 12 software, and Samsung claims that it will be updated for the next four years.

Screen Size - Even though the Tab S8 Ultra has a 14.6-inch screen, these screens don't feel that big. If you want a bigger product, you might want to choose a tablet with a bigger screen. A smaller model with OLED would also be fantastic and might potentially attract more users. Nonetheless, it's great to see Samsung produce such powerful devices against other brands.
Brightness - At maximum brightness, the display can be richly colored and visually appealing. The maximum brightness of the Tab S8's display is 480 nits in the center, with an average brightness of 463 nits throughout the entire screen. That's great for an Android tablet, even better than the Lenovo Yoga Tab 13 (390 nits average brightness), but it can't beat the brightness of the iPad 2021. Also, he Tab S8 is bright enough to use almost anywhere, even outside in the middle of the day. In these circumstances, though, even at maximum brightness, you will see a great deal of your own reflection on the screen, which is surprisingly sensitive to fingerprints.
Display Setting - You may choose between Vivid or Natural for the Galaxy Tab S8's display mode. Vivid makes colors appear more vibrant and brilliant. If color accuracy is important to you, opt for Natural. In Natural mode, the display of the Tab S8 covered 101.1% of the sRGB color spectrum.

Display Screen - Build - Some individuals have always favored the Samsung screen display. Its screen, however, isn't OLED and it doesn't support HDR, which is a little bit of a letdown. Even though OLED displays and HDR content are still hard to find on tablets, Super AMOLED 120Hz displays are already on the Tab S8's bigger siblings, the Tab S8 Plus and Tab S8 Ultra.
Screen Tint - Some people have commented that the display has a yellow tint to it.

Internal Specs - The Tab S8 boasts the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor as the Samsung Galaxy S22, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage for $779.99. Additionally, the Tab S8 and S8 Plus feature Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E. The tablet performed comparably to the S22 series of smartphones, but scored higher on the Basemark Web 3.0 browser benchmark.
Build & Design - It has a luxury feel and a design that can compete with iPad goods and other high-end Android tablets. It has a metal design, and squared edges on its sides, giving it a luxurious appearance.

Design Highlights - It is a thin, lightweight tablet that is comfortable to hold. Each tablet is available in three different color options: graphite, silver, and pink gold. The exquisite appearance of the Samsung Tab S8 is achieved through the tablet's color options, particularly the pink gold option. The tablet's rear, on the other hand, features a charging point for the S Pen and two cameras. However, it gets bulky when the Cover Keyboard is attached. The tablet's left edge has a port for attaching the Book Cover Keyboard Slim, and the bottom edge has a USB-C port for charging or connecting accessories (including monitors because it supports DisplayPort out).
Keyboard - It is a $199.99 Book Cover Keyboard, a compact casing that opens into a five-row keyboard. It has the nicest set of keys, and some users claim it's even better than Apple's Magic Keyboard. It's a little smaller, comfortable enough to type on, and quite springy. The cover magnetically attaches to the tablet. The case feels solid and does a nice job of protecting the tablet from the risk of dents and scratches. There is a cutout on the back to accommodate the rear camera and the S Pen, as well as a compartment in the cover's fold where the S Pen may be stored when not in use. However, it would be great if it came with a trackpad. If you desire a keyboard with a greater level of quality, you may wish to consider an alternative since there's always the option to connect your own keyboard via Bluetooth or the USB-C port.

Dex Mode - Office work is much easier to handle with Dex than in the tablet's normal mode. This laptop mode for tablets works perfectly and is easy to use. This gives you the flexibility to utilize an 11-inch screen, making it more compact. The tablet's Dex productivity mode is also less constrained by Android's limitations. You can use this device as a mini laptop by pressing a button that activates dex mode regardless of whether it is connected to a monitor. The Dex mode is underrated, and more people should be aware of it. It supports a classic multi-window OS, allowing you to run different Android programs in distinct windows and navigate with a keyboard and mouse. For example, you can keep several Microsoft Office documents open in windows that overlap each other. You can also change the size of Android apps that don't work well on tablets, like Twitter. This will make them easier to use.
Work-friendly - Dex is on another level, and the option to add an SD card or other devices via a Type-C socket is fantastic. Unlike Apple products, which require additional parts to import or export files, this tablet is designed for work and does not slow you down.

Software Highlights - It is an excellent canvas for Android 12, which runs smoothly, Samsung bloatware is generally benign to harmless, and the S8 tablet works well with other Galaxy devices. In addition, the good thing about Samsung's software is that you can usually delete, turn off, or just ignore it if you don't like it.
Logging In/Unlocking - Face recognition and fingerprint recognition are available for unlocking a device and logging into an app. However, the fact that face unlocking does not work when you open the tablet with the keyboard case while it is asleep is an issue for certain S8 owners.
Samsung Updates - Samsung has only committed four years of upgrades for this tablet. That sounds like a lot, and it is for Samsung, but consumers prefer to keep their tablets for as long as possible.

S Pen - General - Samsung equips each Tab S8 with a S Pen. It is thick and comfortable to hold. On the Tab S8's display, drawing and taking notes feels smooth and accurate, with no discernible lag. This may be due to the adaptive refresh rate of the display (up to 120Hz), as the more frequently the screen refreshes itself, the faster it can respond to your input.

S Pen - Build - Tab S8s come with the S Pen. The Tab S8 supports earlier tablet S Pens but not phone S Pens. The new S Pen includes one flat side to prevent rolling and an action button. It is made of matte plastic and is about 6.5 inches long. Though, the $99.99 S Pen Pro is bigger and harder to use. You can charge the pen by magnetically attaching it to the glass window on the back of the tablet.

Sensitivity - Despite the 6.2ms input lag, the stylus is quite sensitive to pressure. Samsung's UI layer enables you to easily tap to create a new note or doodle, as well as utilize the pen to annotate a screenshot. S Pen hardware matches Apple's 2nd Generation Pencil.

ArtRage, Autodesk Sketchbook, and Clip Studio Paint are Android art, design, and note-taking apps, but you have less options.

Notetaking - You can use Bamboo Paper, OneNote or sync Samsung's notes app with OneNote to take notes. If you are a note-taker, this tablet is a good option, but so is an iPad. Overall, the Android ecosystem lacks the experiences and functionality offered by the iPad, and offers less features than the iPad.

Tip - The s pen is fantastic. It is better than the Apple pencil because of the tip, which is almost like a regular pen tip when writing or sketching on the S8. It doesn't feel precisely like a one-to-one match using a regular pen on a sheet of paper, but it is the closest you can get.

Video Call Benefits - App-independent microphone noise reduction and camera auto-framing improve video calls. They tested Duo, Meet, Teams, and Zoom. Auto-framing isn't magic, but it tries to center you whenever you move left or right, like Apple's Center Stage. In Teams, the camera sometimes zoomed towards the top half of my head, but in other apps, it worked well.

General - Tab S8 is lightweight, beautiful, and responsive. It is comfortable to hold. It cannot compete with the finest iPads, but it does set a new benchmark for high-end Android tablets.
Years of Service - Even if the tab receives 4-5 years of service and the iPad receives 6-7, both devices will remain useful for roughly the same amount of time. Android versions are less likely to become obsolete than iPad/iOS ones. Android appears to maintain support for mainstream apps for years after the debut of a particular version of Android, however once an iOS / iPad OS version goes one year out of date, app support diminishes.
