The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra are all high-quality Android phones with new AI capabilities. However, these new features still need to be refined and there’s a gap to bridge to match the capabilities of Google’s Pixel phones.

The new S24 series have flat screens with similar bezels. Due to its smaller overall screen size, the bezel on the S24 model appears larger. The S24 is the most manageable for one-handed use.

The AI features include Browsing Assist that summarizes online content, Chat Assist integrated into the keyboard for content editing in various styles and tones, and translation tools in the phone app that provide live translations of multiple languages and dialects.

Samsung’s new devices feature a Pro Visual AI Engine, providing advanced AI photo editing options. Users can take an image and utilize the Samsung Gallery for editing suggestions such as reflection removal, portrait mode conversion, and generative edit features, comparable to those on the Pixel 8 Pro devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 houses a 4,000 mAh battery, which, despite being the smallest in the S24 lineup, should provide sufficient power for the device’s smaller, lower-resolution screen.

In terms of the ultrawide feature, the Pixel 8 Pro surpasses the S24 series, offering sharper details and more natural colors. However, the S24 series has an edge with a slightly sharper 3X zoom and superior selfie cameras.

The regular S24 offers 8 GB of RAM and storage options of 128 or 256 GB, which are lower compared to the 12 GB RAM and minimum 256 GB storage provided by the plus and ultra models.

The chipsets for the S24 and S24 Plus in the EU is a drawback, as they are equipped with Exynos, unlike the S24 Ultra which retains the Snapdragon.

Despite the varying battery sizes, the S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra all demonstrated similar battery performance in tests.

The Galaxy S24 comes with 256GB and 512GB storage options and 8GB of RAM, while the S24 Plus offers the same storage options but with 12GB of RAM. The S24 Ultra offers 12GB of RAM with storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

For most regions outside of the US and Canada, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ use the Exynos processor, with the Snapdragon processor only available in the Ultra model in the UK. The performance of the Exynos variant is slightly less impressive, yet the price remains the same as the Snapdragon variant in the US.

The Galaxy S24+ is considered superior with a larger battery, QHD, and 12GB of RAM, making it a lite version of the S24 Ultra with only a couple of features missing.

Some users consider upgrading from the S20 to the S24 or Plus, and not the Ultra due to their size, preferring smaller phones. However, camera quality could be an additional factor.

The aesthetic appeal of the non-ultra variants of the S24 series with rounded corners is preferred by some over the Ultra’s square corners.

Some users are torn between wanting the ‘best’ and wanting a phone that is easy to hold in one hand, leaning towards the S24 due to its affordability but worried about missing out on extra storage, memory, and the S pen.

Other users prefer the S24 as they use the devices only for chat and watching videos, and don’t require a high-quality camera or S Pen.

Users, particularly in Europe, prefer the base S23 due to the S24 and S24 Plus sporting the Exynos chipset, which has a bad reputation for them.

The S24 boasts a sleek design with thin bezels. However, for an S23 owner, it doesn’t warrant an upgrade as the S23 still excels in all necessary aspects.

For some, the S24 may seem like a software-updated S23. However, the 50MP 5X lens can be a valuable addition for video recording, bridging the gap between 3X and 10X zoom.

The S24 and S24 Plus, featuring Exynos, retains the same camera and lacks wifi 7. This makes it less appealing for an S22+ user.

The current 4000mah battery is average, not particularly impressive. A 4500mah battery, like in the 21fe, would be ideal.

The discounted S23 is suggested as a good deal, offering the Snapdragon chip while saving a substantial amount of money.

The S23 with Snap Gen 2 is mentioned as a potential alternative, while the Pixel 8’s SOC and size is criticized and it’s pointed out that it lacks a telephoto lens.

It’s stated that all Ultra models use the SD chip globally, while the base and + models will use Exynos variants depending on the location.

A user expresses dissatisfaction with Samsung after the S22 series, revealing they’ve switched to a Google Pixel 8 due to Samsung’s lack of innovation and use of Exynos in the S24.

Despite Samsung’s spam protection feature, the phone still receives numerous spam calls. This contrasts with the experience on Google’s Pixel phones, which effectively block spam and robocalls with the Call Screen feature.

Samsung’s keyboard, particularly its swipe typing and voice typing, lacks accuracy and functionality. It fails to add punctuation during voice dictation and often misinterprets dictation inputs. These issues detract from the smart capabilities of the phone.

Many users are frustrated that the S24 and S24 Plus phones do not come with the Snapdragon chipset unless one buys from US or Canada.

The Exynos variants of the S24 in Europe seems to be underperforming with noticeable stutters. It’s disappointing given the higher price tag for a minor update.

The S24 series comes with a multitude of smart software features, including Call Assist [Live Translate] for real-time translations during phone calls. However, this feature may lead to confusion if not properly managed and its translations, while similar to Google Translate, may not fully capture the intended message. Nonetheless, it can be a handy tool for travelers.

Although the S24 series supports Qi wireless charging, the absence of the new Qi2 charging standard is disappointing as it would have allowed the use of a MagSafe-like system and a range of magnetic accessories.
