There are also the slimmer bezels and a new contoured edge design around the screen, giving the phone a unique feel in comparison to previous generations.

Action Button - The iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with the new Action button similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, replacing the mute switch from previous models. It is a multifunction, programmable button that can do a variety of tasks depending on user setting.
Camera - The iPhone 15 Pro Max camera system has a variety of features. It has Dynamic Island from the iPhone 14 Pro variants, and has 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm shooting focal lengths. The camera setup itself is a 12MP telephoto lens selfie camera with 3x optical zoom, and an upgraded 48-megapixel main camera with a larger sensor. It can shoot spatial video, and has a different aperture size capable of taking close-up macro photos. Photos are now 24 megapixels by default, rather than 12, with improvements to smart HDR Tech, portraits and low light. Also unique to the iPhone 15 Pro Max are the 5x optical zoom on its telephoto lens, and a periscoping zoom lens capable of variable zoom, going from 3x range to 6x range, and allowing users an actual zoom rather than a digital zoom.

For charging speeds, getting to 50% with a 20W charger will take the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro 30 minutes, while the iPhone 15 Plus and the iPhone 15 Pro Max will take 35 minutes. All variants come with iOS 17 with its improved ultrawide band connectivity for more precise locating of AirTags, other Find My-enabled items or a friend's given location, plus the Roadside Assistance feature on top of the existing Emergency SOS and Crash Detection capabilities.

Drawbacks - Action Button - The iPhone 15 Pro Max’s new Action button can be a detriment to some users that were used to the old mute button, as the old button was easy to operate without necessitating one to look at the phone during operation, while the new Action button, depending on user setting, can do different things, which can end up confusing the user.

Issue - Build - The iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro’s titanium build is softer than stainless steel, less scratch resistant, and impossible to polish, thus making the eventual scratches very visible, especially on blue and black color options.
Issue - Design - The iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro not having the gold color option is speculated to be due to additional manufacturing processes needed to incorporate said color to titanium in comparison to steel. The muted color options for both phones in general are unappealing to some users.
Issue - Manufacturer - Display - The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max thankfully have 120Hz refresh rates, but the fact that the non-Pro variants retain 60Hz is a point of contention for some users along with the price for said variants being seen as inappropriate.
Issue - Performance - The iPhone 15 Pro Max and its variants, even with the new USB-C port, have no discernable improvement in terms of battery life and charging speeds.
