Stand - The stand is extremely versatile, offering extensive swivel, tilt, pivot, and height adjustments, allowing the monitor to tilt down to -5 and up to +20, swivel up to 62 degrees in each direction, and pivot 90 degrees in either direction for portrait mode viewing. Additionally, it has a D-screw, which makes it toolless to set up. The stand is high quality with firm movements and no wobble, play, or slop.

Build - Its 4K resolution and ergonomics with 3 thin bezels, a wide, sturdy base that's easy and toolless to install, a clip for cable management, two built-in 2-watt speakers, and robust build make it a high-quality, budget 4K monitor. Display Panel - The IPS panel type gives nicer colors and better viewing angles than a Twisted Pneumatic or VA panel. Also, IPS panels are fast and, therefore, popular with gamers. However, the correlation between the aspect ratios is that if you have a display of 32:9 or 21:9, the aspect ratios will have Twisted Pneumatic or VA panels. At the same time, ultra-wide or super-wide displays rarely have IPS panels, which are some trade-offs to consider.

Connectivity - The inputs and ports included are 2 HDMI ports that can accept 2.0 and 2.1 cables because the HDMI 2.1 cable is backward compatible. Still, it can't provide all the benefits of having an HDMI 2.1 connected to it because it can't receive that signal, an HDR10, DisplayPort 1.2 that allows the transfer of more data, and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top for a gaming headset or powered speakers. However, there are no USB ports.

Display - The Pixel density looks okay, but a 4K, 28" monitor seems to have a lot of PPI. The TUF can cover 90% of DCI-P3 color gamma. The ELMB Sync has a 1 ms trace-free response time, which makes it a Rapid IPS. Also, it has an HDR 10, meaning it has higher color and brightness levels than a conventional monitor without HDR.

ShortCircuit

01/27/2022

Source
HDR - It has a mediocre HDR peak brightness. Performance-wise, there's no variation in brightness with different content, but it's not enough to bring out highlights in HDR. In the HDR gamut test, red is over-saturated at the 40-80% targets but good at 20% and 100%. Green and yellow were 20% under-saturated, while blue tracked well. Magenta was also properly saturated but showed a slight blue hue. Overall, its HDR accuracy is good, but considering it's an IPS panel, it doesn't deliver much contrast to good SDR monitors. It's limited by its color gamut and the low contrast ratio and can't deliver dark, saturated colors.

Viewing Angle - It has a great horizontal viewing angle, typical of an IPS panel, with the image kept accurate when viewed from the side, allowing easier screen sharing. On the other hand, the vertical viewing angle is also decent, but it loses accuracy when the monitor is mounted above or below eye level. Still, many users choose IPS for its excellent viewing angles. Overall, it only loses 20% of brightness at a 45 degrees off-axis with a slight shift to green while details stay sharp with every brightness step, and the top-down view was better than a TN or VA panel.

Racing Mode - The Racing mode does not require calibration, but its downside is it needs to use the full DCI-P3 color gamut with both SDR and HDR content. Though there is a picture mode called sRGB, it does not reduce the gamut size enough.

Shadow Boost - The Shadow Boost technology boosts games' dark areas and scenes without compromising or overexposing already bright areas. However, it's not as effective in doing either. But enabling HDR might lessen blown-out highlights, but the monitor doesn't get more details out in darker areas; rather, it just makes the areas go from black to dark gray.

They have similar prices, and the difference is there's already a reliable review for the Gigabyte's gamut and accurate color pre-calibration, whereas the TUF is just confirmed to be 10-bit. Moreover, 28" might be too small for 4k, which may affect the quality of 1080p contents that are just upscaled.
