Overview - Features - The DJI Mini 2 is a culmination of DJI’s best offers in terms of features. The camera is good, the sensors are good, and the controls are responsive. It features 4K quality, decent stabilization, good range, and good battery life; impressive for an entry-level drone. With the DJI Mini 2 one gets various good features like the camera with the sensors and 4K quality with 60 frames per second, fast flight speed, excellent portability and weight, Ocusync transmission, great range, and 30 minute flight time, among others. The DJI Mini 2 can support up to 4K video, while the older Mini model can only support up to 2.7K. Its transmission system uses OcuSync 2.0, which supports 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz. The DJI Mini 2’s controller is vastly improved, weightier and easier to use with a smartphone. The improved motor allows a top speed of 36mph when the drone is in Sports Mode. The drone is portable owing to its size, and has impressive stability considering its weight.

Battery - Controller - Fly More - The Mini 2’s controller is loaded with a 5,200mAh battery for fairly long operation, though consequently it takes a while to recharge, and it also charges the phone while connected. Its Fly More Combo has three 2,250 mAh batteries included, which allows 90 minutes of flight time. Its charging is fast thanks to its power pack having 18W of charging power.

Controller - Features - The Mini 2’s controller has been revamped entirely with simplicity in mind, though at the same time retaining advanced features only shared with the DJI Mavic Air 2. The controller has a weight of 390g which is more than the drone itself. Its design also takes durability into consideration, adding a proper heft to the controller in contrast to the original’s plastic, fold-out model that had a video game controller look and feel. The one downside to this controller is the fact that it's massive; it’s bigger than the drone itself.

Flaw - Flight - Obstacle Avoidance - The Mini 2 lacks obstacle avoidance, only having landing sensors. It has very few smart flight modes, and unsatisfactory battery life.
Hardware - Sensor - The Mini 2’s hardware looks very familiar in comparison to the original, but it has improved motors, stabilization and wind resistance that help lighten the camera and gimbal workload, to impressive results. With regards to the sensor however, the drone isn’t ideal for shooting in gloomy conditions. Quality suffers in poor lighting, more so for video than photo.
QuickShot Modes - The Mini 2 has five Quickshot modes: circle, boomerang, dronie, helix, and rocket and three panorama options: traditional, 180-degree, and 360-degree.
Sensors - Obstacle Avoidance & Landing - Unlike bigger Mavic drones, the Mini 2 does not have obstacle avoidance sensors on its front, back and sides. However, it has a couple of sensors underneath that can detect obstruction below.
Software Updates - DJI has a decent track record of bringing useful software updates to its products.

Output Quality - The Mini 2’s camera offers 4K output quality, good for the majority of daily needs and uploads, though ND filters are needed when trying to shoot video outdoors in a non-overcast day. The Mini 2 has three modes: Normal (medium), Cine (slow) and Sports (fast).For the best video results, the Cine mode allows for smooth pans and closing in and reversing shots. Digital zooming is possible in 4K in good lighting conditions. With manual photo and video shooting, one can override the auto mode to boost low-light performance. Photos can be saved in JPG format, or its RAW files can be edited separately. With the Mini 2, shooting feels like going from a fully manual SLR to a point-and-shoot camera. One can leave everything on auto without being too precious about the technical side of things, trusting that everything captured will be good, which is a nice change of pace.

Photo - The Mini 2’s photos look sharp and hold a good level of detail and contrast up to 1600 ISO. It still has the same, small 1/2.3-inch 12MP sensor as the original Mini, but it produces much nicer photos than before.
Raw Footage - Unedited footage can look a bit flat and underexposed in overcast scenes, but this allows video editors to maximize their desires.

Resolution - Video - The Mini 2 features 12MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensors with a maximum resolution of 4000 x 3000 (or 16:9, 4000 x ×2250, 4K), up from 2.7K, at 100Mbps bitrate and 30fps.
Sensors - Quality & Color Profile - The Mini 2’s footage looks surprisingly good for considering the size of its sensor. Daylight footage looks crisp throughout and the color doesn’t look overly processed. Unfortunately, there isn’t a dedicated cinelike color profile, which would have provided a little bit more control over the coloring process and extended the dynamic range.

Sensors - Video - The smaller sensor has limitations at higher ISO, and tend to also make noise more pronounced. However, footage still looks good even at low light, and thanks to the motors allowing the drone to be more stable in the air, one can slow down shutter speed to lower the ISO for better results. Overcast conditions also don’t affect shooting too much, even better when it is pointed towards the sun which handles flare sensitively.
Signal - The Mini 2’s signal strength and range are better than older DJI models, with video transmission up to 10km thanks to the Ocusing 2.0 Transmission System.
Stability - The Mini 2 is able to record stable video even when the air is choppy, and can withstand all but the windiest conditions, which is impressive considering its size and weight.

It is reasonable in price when compared to the cheaper Mavic Mini at $399, which can’t capture 4K video, and the newer DJI Air 2S at $999 and higher.
Value for Money - The DJI Mini 2 builds on the success of the previous Mavic Mini, providing a much better video shoot quality, while retaining the straight out of the pocket flying capability. It is an entry-level drone with good features sold at a reasonable price. The Mini 2 is seen as worth its price for photography and video editing.
