Security - Security usually depends on the wallet type, and the different types of wallets are: Online wallets, which are the least secure as you must truly rely on the provider; even though the majority of online wallets do not store private keys, it doesn't mean that coins cannot be stolen. Also, there the most vulnerable in terms of hacking, Software/app wallets, which are good for making daily trades, and are more secure than online, but not as good as hardware wallets as they're better for storing huge amounts of cryptocurrencies, and is one of the most recommended options as it keeps private keys offline, protecting it against hacking. Paper wallets are considered the most secure; however, when lost by accident, all coins are lost. Specifically for KeepKey, it's a hardware wallet, so it's one of the most secure storage for your assets; thus, even if the computer is infected with malware, hackers won't be able to steal cryptocurrencies.
Settings - The device settings allow changing labels, panning, or wiping off the device. It also has a QR code that can be scanned to send money to the wallet.

Transaction - If there's a balance, you'll have a button that says send money, and when you click that, you have to type in a Bitcoin address and the amount you want; then you get blocks for like one hour transaction time 30 minutes, and 10 minutes. Also, you can send and receive tokens using the interface. Specifically, sending with a Mycelium Wallet creates a transaction and sends it to the KeepKey device over a USB cable. Keepkey will ask you to verify and confirm the address, and once you do, sign the transaction right on the device and send it back to your Mycelium Wallet for broadcast.
Usage - The application makes the transaction easier as it can only hold so much at once. Also, it has a great and simple interface that's easy to use and doesn't waste much time switching out wallets, and it integrates well with the ShapeShift platform, which provides constant updates.

Setup - The setup is simple and shouldn't take more than 10 or 20 minutes. Before setting up, you'll need a computer, Chrome browser, KeepKey hardware wallet, USB cable, KeepKey Client app, and a recovery sentence card. The basic steps of setting up are signing up with ShapeShift, pairing KeepKey, updating firmware on the device, initializing set up, transferring crypto to the device, and from there, you'll be able to view your portfolio, buy crypto using Banxa, and trade using decentralized exchanges. Specifically, the important points are setting up a pin and writing down the recovery phrase.
Setup - Computer - In a computer, you'll need to plug in the USB cable that was included, and then you'll see the device slide up with the KeepKey logo and go into the wallet from there.

Mobile App - KeepKey does not have a native mobile app; however, the MyCelium app can be downloaded on any Android or iOS device and used for KeepKey. A Google Chrome extension is also built to interact with the hardware device, but you'll need an OTG cable to connect the KeepKey Hardware wallet to a phone or desktop to access the app.

Specifically, KeepKey comes at a lower price point but does not have the same brand recognition or trust level as Ledge. At the same time, Ledger offers various hardware wallets at different prices. Although KeepKey is known for its association with ShapeShift, the reality is devices from Ledger can also be used with the ShapeShift cryptocurrency exchange. Still, KeepKey uses a different chip in its hardware to secure users' private keys from attackers, similar to the chip used in Trezor.
Keepkey vs Trezor vs Ledge - KeepKey is a hardware wallet that gives a huge edge over other crypto storage options but is not regarded as a top-tier hardware device. On the other hand, Trezor and Ledger are accepted as the top two hardware options on the market. Notably, past security issues that have affected Trezor devices also affected KeepKey hardware wallets. Additionally, the price reduction made KeepKey compete more aggressively in the market. However, the number of coins supported and the company's reputation hinder KeepKey from matching with Trezor and Ledger.
Keepkey vs Trezor - Trezor does not reveal the seed to the computer upon setting up, and during recovery, you enter the seed in a random order, but you can do that on an air-gapped Android device. On the other hand, Keepkey uses a lot of Trezor's code; thus, there's a bit of overlap in terms of functionality, but only Trezor has U2F, and Trezor is smaller, more portable and more environment durable.
